Germany, Bundesliga: FC Bayern Munich has issued a strong statement insisting that star striker Robert Lewandowski will not be allowed to leave the club this summer amid Manchester United and Chelsea links.
A statement read “Robert Lewandowski has a contract with FC Bayern, which he recently extended to 2021. Bayern are not thinking about any move for Lewandowski.”
“There are no talks with other clubs, and there will not be. If other clubs negotiate with a player who is still has a long-term contract, they risk punishment from FIFA.”
“The player agent also assured us that he did not hold talks with any other club.”
Lewandowski was Bayern’s top scorer last season, netting 30 goals in Germany’s top flight.
He missed out on the top scorer award to Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, however, with the Gabon forward finishing up with 31 goals in the competition after his final-day double against Werder Bremen.
Lewandowski joined Bayern from rivals Dortmund in 2014 and signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2021 in December.
