Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa set to address the South African Communist Party (SACP) elective conference held in Boksburg today after the party banned President Jacob Zuma from attending the event.
The SACP has joined Cosatu in the calls for President Zuma to resign after accusing him of leading an administration that is crippled by corruption.
“The ANC stands for elections, not only for its own members, it is a leading organisation in our alliance, we campaigned for it.” said the party
“This is an ANC-led government and when we are serving a government we do so to serve the people of SA as a whole under the leadership of the ANC. This congress will discuss all matters, nothing will be left not discussed by this congress. But we must make it very clear that the ANC is the leader of the alliance, we campaigned for this government. We are serving in a government we campaigned for.”
The Secretary General Blade Nzimande will officially open the conference by delivering the party report today. Meanwhile the second Deputy General announced that he won’t be challenging Blade Nzimande for the party’s top position in the interest of party unity.
