Dennilton, police arrested two suspects aged between 24 and 54 for dealing and cultivation of dagga.

In a concerted effort to uproot drug related crimes in the province, numerous operations were conducted throughout the entire week resulting in the positive arrests and confiscations of large quantities of dagga and drugs.

In another incident, the intelligence led joint operation composed of Groblersdal Cluster CI and Dennilton CPU conducted operations at Elandsdoorn next to Moutse shopping mall where a 28-year-old male was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of 83 sachets of cocaine in a plastic bag.

Meanwhile, Levubu police managed to apprehend five suspects aged between 24 and 54 for cultivation and dealing in dagga.

In the Lephalale Cluster eleven suspects were arrested for possession and dealing in dagga, whereas in Lebowakgomo, two suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of CAT.

In Motetema also under Groblersdal Cluster, police managed to arrest 29 suspects for being in possession of dagga during operations conducted through road blocks and stop and searches.

A total number of 47 suspects with ages raging between 24 and 54 were arrested on dagga and drug related offenses during persistent operations that are aimed at completely eradicating mushrooming of drugs across the province.

The following drugs and dagga were seized during the operations:

  • 81 dagga plants
  • 83 sachets of cocaine
  • 10 dagga boxes
  • 30 grams of cat
  • 105 sachets of Nyaope
  • 3527 grams of dagga

The suspects have already started appearing before different Magistrates’ Courts around the province.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has once again applauded the men and women in blue for their commitment in the fight against the mushrooming of drugs which still remains a battle throughout the province.

He assured the community that “The police will continue fighting tooth and nail until Limpopo becomes a drug free province” concluded General Ledwaba.
