The residents of KwaMashu in Durban are reported to be angry and decided to form part in a violent protest on Monday night.
The protesters caused extensive damage with some foreign owned shops being looted and set on fire.

According to rumors, community members are angry because of false information being spread on social media about children being kidnapped in the area.
“Apparently people are disturbed by fake news of children being kidnapped in the area,” said Brigadier Jay Naicker.
“Despite our intervention via the media to inform the community that no such kidnappings took place, messages continue to spread on social media platforms
On Tuesday morning Kwazulu-Natal police officers monitored the area and tried to keep the situation under control.
Police used rubber bullets and teargas to, meanwhile other foreign shop owners urgently closed up their shops.
Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed that no arrest has been made but cases of public violence were opened scatter the crowd,
Lindleani and Ntuzuma are some of the section in Durban that also got affected by the protest.
The SAPS also confirmed that the misinformation of children being kidnapped in the area, spark the protest.
