The retired army chief General Constantino Chiwenga, who led a de facto coup in Zimbabwe last month was today sworn in as the Deputy President for President.
President Mnangagwa appointed General Constantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi ( ex-Minister of State for National Security) as Vice Presidents of Zimbabwe.
Chiwenga recently retired as the Zimbabwe army chief just a month after he led a de facto coup that ended Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule.
General Chiwenga led the army to take over the streets of Zimbabwe and to force President Mugabe into early retirement paving the way for Mnangagwa to become president.
He was officially installed as Zimbabwe’s vice president in Harare on Thursday.
