The Department of Basic Education says it believes the hacking of its website could be linked to a High Court Judgment over Religion in Schools.
The department says authorities were informed about the images of dissipated bodies of children and messages that’s were put on the site last night.
This comes after the Johannesburg High Court ruled on Wednesday that schools cannot promote any one religion over others.
According to Department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says there’s reason to believe the hacking could be linked to the judgment.
“We find it curious that all these things could happen on the same day, that’s why we’ve reason to believe there could be a link because both have got to do with the same subject matter.
“And we feel that an investigation will assist us to get to the bottom of this case.”
