Free State: Investigations are underway following the fire that engulfed the Bloemfontein City Hall on Wednesday night.

According to reports, Mangaung Metro municipal employees who were on strike had a meeting in the city hall around 17:00.
Police members started dispersing the crowd after they were informed that it was an illegal gathering when they noticed smoke coming from the building. Fire fighters were immediately summoned to the scene.
A case of arson will be registered and there are three people who have been taken into custody at the moment. The exact cause of fire will be determined after the forensic team has conducted their investigations.
