A memorial service for the late Washington Sixolo was held on Thursday at Uncle Tom’s Hall in Orlando West, Soweto.
The veteran actor was part of the SABC soapier Emzini Wezinizwa and played as Jwara.
Washington had been ill for a while and died on Sunday after being taken to Baragwanath Hospital.
Mara Louw, Abigail Kubeka and Connie Chiume also veterans in the industry were part of the service.
Louw and Kubeka sang a jazz song which they say baba Sixolo loved so much.
Amongst other singers the SABC choir and Kings of Harmony blessed mourners with soft music.
The soapies’ producer, Muziwakhe Shabangu said, “A black cloud hangs over our Emzini family”.
During his memorial service, many spoke of him as a humble man who loved peace and music and recalled the jokes Sixolo used to tell them.
Sixolo’s funeral service will be held at the Orlando West Seventh Day Adventist Church at 7 am on Sunday and he will be buried at Avalon Cemetery.
