New vehicle sales rose 7.2 percent year-on-year to 49,754 units in South Africa during the November month, data from the trade and industry department showed on Friday. The increase is the sixth in a row this year, while exports again posted a significant loss.
Exports however fell 13.7 percent to 27,178 units compared with the same month a year earlier, the department said.
According to the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA), total new car sales went up by 7.2% from last year’s 46 397 units to 49 754, while exports ended in the red by falling 13.7% from 31 493 to 27 178.
