Public Protector to probe Nkosasana Dlamini-Zuma VIP protection

The Public Protector Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane to launch an investigations into the alleged use of the Presidential VIP protection unit by the former chairperson of the African Union Nkosasana Dlamini-Zuma in her presidential campaign.

As per the new Police minister Fikile Mbalula former AU Chairperson was given the VIP Presidential Protection by the government due to the alleged security threads on reported on her.

The office of the Public Protector announced that it will investigate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for her abuse of VIP Presidential Protection, as a private citizen.

This follows the complains lodged with the Public Protector’s office by political parties in April.

It was recently confirmed to Parliament by the then Acting National Police Commissioner General Phahlane, that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma continued to be protected by the VIP Presidential Protection unit while she travels around South Africa for ANC campaigning.

Dlamini-Zuma left the AU top post to contest for the African National Congress (ANC) leadership position.

She face a tough challenge against the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa..
