SABC dismisses Hlaudi Motsoeneng & End 90% Local

Confirmed! The former South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)  COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been dismissed and his contract terminated following the recommendations by the Disciplinary Committee over his alleged misconduct.

In a press conference the SABC Interim Board confirmed the news of Hlaudi Dismissal pending further investigations into the alleged irregularities while he was incharge.

Hlaudi Motsoeneng faced charges of bringing the Public Broadcaster into disrepute and causing irreparable damage to his employer.

Before today dismissal Mr. Motsoeneng was sitting on suspension following the high court ruling.

Hlaudi has recieved the dismissal letter but it is not clear if he will challenge it.

The charges related to his four-hour long press briefing on April 19, where he defended his “90% local” policy.

The board has also announced the restoration of the 2014 Editorial policy and an end to the 90% local policy which is reported to have cost the SABC millions.

Another announcement was the termination of the New Age Business Breakfast shows.
