United States Army

Abu Sayed, leader of Islamic State in Afghanistan (also known as ISIS-K), was killed in a United States airstrike in Kunar Province on July 11, according to the commander of US forces in the country.

“Abu Sayed is the third ISIS-K emir we have killed in the last year and we will continue until they are annihilated,” General John Nicholson said on Friday. “There is no safe haven for ISIS-K in Afghanistan.”
