Vuwani residents took it to the streets of Thohoyandou protesting over poor service delivery according to reports.
In the early hours of Monday morning activists gathered outside the Khoroni Hotel in Thohoyandou in preparation for the planned march to the Vhembe District Municipality Offices.
It is understood that protesters reside in Vuwani and the surrounding areas.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says public order police were deployed to monitor the march.
Last year chaos irrupted in Vuwani with residents vandalizing state owned buildings after the demarcation board refused to incorporate Vuwani under Makhado municipality and fused them with the newly formed Malamulele Municipality.
Over 27 schools were torched and cars were also burned which caused schools to shut down for a couple of month in the area.
“We call on all people involved to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and desist from resorting to violence,” he urged.
Mojapelo says the situation in both Vuwani and Thohoyandou is currently peaceful.
The march is set to continue on Tuesday over poor service delivery.
