SAA chairperson suspends Thuli Mpshe

It has been alleged that South African Airways (SAA) Chairperson, Dudu Myeni has suspended Head of Human Resources Thuli Mpshe.

According to the troubled airline Mpshe has been suspended pending the outcome of an undisclosed investigation into her conduct.

Mpshe is known to have opposed Ms Myeni’s interference in SAA and has clashed with her in the past.

Considering the contentious nature of Mpshe and the Chairperson’s relationship, it is highly unlikely that Ms Mpshe will receive a fair shake.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said it will submit a series of parliamentary questions to determine the details of Mpshe’s suspension and subsequent investigation.

Meanwhile, SAA said it would not comment on the circumstances that led to the suspension.

“The allegations against Ms Mpshe are of an extremely serious nature and warrant a proper investigation with unfettered access to information and potential witnesses to enable SAA to make informed decisions and to afford Ms Mpshe an opportunity to reflect on the situation,” the SAA said in a statement.
