Sadiq Khan wins London election, becoming first Muslim mayor of major Western city
Sadiq Khan, the son of a bus driver, became London’s first Muslim mayor on Saturday, he has been officially declared the winner of London’s mayoral elections.
“I promise to always be a mayor for all Londoners, for every Londoner, regardless of your background,” said the newly-elected mayor in a victory speech.
